Behind the Scenes

There are no professional actors in the film. Instead, Nepalese Nationals directly affected by human trafficking dramatize a true story.

Written and Directed by Eric Davis and Produced by Randy Watson, the film was shot over 9 long days on location in Kathmandu.

The 5.1 surround sound film features an original score by Carl Davis and Aidan Miller. Shot in 4K anamorphic, Post Production was completed in Vancouver, Canada. A Veto Studio production.

Sita was born into the lowest social class in Nepal and prior to her life at Nepalese Home, was unable to communicate outside of her class.

Sita volunteered to play the lead role in The Twelve Thousand out of love for the organization, and her real-life friend, Sona. Before filming, Sona helped Sita rehearse and understand the details of her story.

Sita is currently in high school, with dreams of becoming a flight attendant someday.

Lead Actress

Sona was trapped and forced to work in an Indian brothel for 3 years, serving up to 30 customers a day. She was rescued by International Justice Mission and brought to Nepalese Home.

For the first time in her life, she felt love, respect and began her healing process, eventually abandoning her escape plan. Today, she is a leader in the home, an art teacher and is working towards her degree in social work to help girls just like her.

The Twelve Thousand is her story.
